Sometimes a single ramp or package solution is not enough. Homes and workplaces are different, and sometimes a custom solution is needed to create accessibility. Some of these could be:
Many houses have a corridor space with many doors. Such a corridor can often be problematic to provide with ramps, as they can take up so much space that it becomes difficult for a wheelchair user, for example, to use the corridor. However, if the corridor is “filled in” at doorstep level, you will have easy access to all rooms.
Does your home have low-lying doors? If so, make sure your doorstep ramp in front of the deep door does not have “holes” in the sides.
Sometimes you need a ramp for stairs, while allowing pedestrians to use steps. See our custom-built solutions below.
Does your house have a narrow hallway that creates access into several rooms? It can be a hassle to fill up such a small hallway with ramps. Ramps can take up so much space that it becomes difficult to use the hallway, and that’s not the point! If the ramp option is chosen, all doorstep ramps should have corners as a minimum, as this will greatly facilitate accessibility. We recommend this if the corridor is wide enough to still be able to drive down the corridor in, for example, a wheelchair without hitting the ramps.
However, there is a more optimal solution for narrow corridors. If the corridor space is “filled up” to the level of the many door steps, accessibility is facilitated. Quite simply. The corridor will now appear as a flat surface, where there are no accessibility problems. If necessary, you can lay carpets on top of the raised floor, so that you do not see that the floor has been raised. Our tiling system can be adapted to your hallway so that the floor is filled in completely, without edges and “holes” at walls, corners or any mouldings, bumps or heating pipes. “Open-close” solutions can also be made in the floor, creating access to, for example, sockets that are below the level of the floor.
When you need to clean the floor, simply lift the tiles, wash them off and place them back. Our tiles are resistant to all common household cleaners, 100% non-toxic and recyclable. Read more about materials here.
